Message from GNT Leader – July 2025 Edition
Dear GNT Family,
How are you? On Sunday, July 27, our team held “My Recommended Event.” On that day, nearly 20 people from around the world gathered online to exchange opinions about their favorite books.
This was the second year for this event, and this time, I took on a new challenge: facilitating the group discussion in English. I am not confident in my English skills, so facilitating the group discussion in English was a significant challenge for me. However, encouraged by my team members who told me, “Don’t be afraid of making mistakes,” I decided to take on the challenge.
There were five other participants in the group, but thanks to everyone using gentle English, I managed to fulfill my role. Though it was only about 40 minutes, it was a valuable time for us to discover books we hadn’t known about before and get to know each other through the discussion. I’m so glad I took the courage to fulfill my role.
It’s been three years since I started working with this team, and I’ve come to realize that it’s true that improving your English broadens your horizons and expands your interests. I feel strongly that I want to provide Japanese children with as many of these valuable opportunities as possible! The team’s main event, GIC, is about to begin.
Once again, children from all over Japan will gather in Shiga Prefecture. I am excited to see what discoveries will emerge from the interactions with camp leaders from around the world. With the recent heatwave in Japan, we will take care of our health while striving to provide the children with the “best memories of their elementary school life.” The entire team will work hard toward this goal.

お元気ですか。当チームでは、7月27日（日）に「My Recommended Event」を行いました。当日は20名近くの皆様が世界中から集まって下さり、オンライン上でお互いの好きな本についての意見交換を行いました。
2年目となるこのイベントですが、今回、私は1つの挑戦をしました。それは、グループのファシリテーションを英語で行うことです。
私は英語が得意ではありません。そのため、英語でグループのファシリテーションを行うことは大きな挑戦でしたが、チームメンバーに「Don’t be afraid of making mistakes」と励まされたこともあって、挑戦することを決心しました。
グループには私の他に5人の参加者がおられましたが、皆さんが優しい英語を使ってくれたこともあって、何とか役割を務めることが出来ました。40分程の時間でしたが、今まで知らなった本を知ることが出来て、議論をキッカケに参加者同士が知り合えることが出来て私たちにとって貴重な時間となりました。勇気を出して役割を果たして本当に良かったです。
このチームで働き始めて3年目になりますが、英語が上手になると、視野が広がる、興味の幅が広がるというのは本当だなあと実感しています。日本の子どもたちに、こういった貴重な機会を少しでも提供してあげたい！と気持ちを強くしております。
もうすぐチームのメインイベント：GICが始まります。
今回も日本中から子どもたちが滋賀県に集まります。世界各国から集まったキャンプリーダーとの交流からどんな発見が生まれるのか、今から楽しみです。
最近、日本はとても暑いので、体調には気を付けながら、子どもたちに「小学校生活最高の思い出」を提供できるように、チームメンバー一同頑張って行きたいと思います。
