Name: Yumika Kamada
Participated: EIC 2008, Hachikogen
Group Camp Leaders: Puti, Yan, LZ, Mitsu
Now: Working at Toyota Motor Corporation
Dear EIC family,
Hello everyone:) Please let me share what I am doing now, and what I want to do in the future.
What are you doing now?
I have been working at Toyota Motor Corporation since I graduated from university. My responsibilities involve the after-sales business in global. I have a lot of chances to speak English in my work since I need to communicate with not only Japan team, but also oversea teams everyday. It is a little bit hard for me to discuss to make an important decision in English, but at the same time it is rewarding.
Why are you doing what you are doing now?
The reason why I chose Toyota as my first career is because I want to contribute to increasing Japan’s presence in international society. Nowadays, more and more Japanese people, including my friends, are thinking that we cannot stop Japan declining and be proud of Japan. That is so sad for me since I really love Japan which has a lot of amazing culture, history, nature and people. I would like to liven up Japan so that Japanese can be proud of Japan again as an attractive, peaceful and energetic country. Toyota is one of the influential Japanese companies which support the Japanese economy, so I decided to work here.
What do you remember about EIC and how it has impacted you?
In my childhood, my dream was to help poor people around the world, so my Kumon teacher suggested to join EIC as a good opportunity to interact with foreign people. EIC was my first time exchanging with foreigners, which taught me fun to learn about different cultures. After that, I joined global exchange program a lot and studied in the Czech Republic in my university student days, then traveled to 50 countries until today. Thanks to EIC, I was able to be interested in a wide range of global issue world and will keep connecting with this beautiful world.
What is your dream, next challenge or goal?
I’m currently searching for a lifelong dream. One thing I can say for sure is that I want to continue to be a energetic and healthy woman who can inspire others throughout my life. With that goal in mind, I will live every day to the fullest, being grateful for the people around me and always being curious and eager to improve.
Message to EIC Family
Motto of my life is “NANTOKANARUSA”, which means things will work out. Whenever I cannot decide whether or not to try something, I always try with “NANTOKANARUSA” mental even if it has any risk. Failure leads growth and success definitely. Let’s try, make mistakes and enjoy life together!
