“My Recommended Book” Event 2025

On July 27, 2025 (Sunday), we held the second year of our “My Recommended Book” online series and it was truly special!

Friends from Denmark, Australia, Uganda, Indonesia, Hokkaido, Beppu, and more joined us, making it a wonderful opportunity to reconnect and share stories with our global community. In total, 18 participants from 8 different countries gathered on Zoom for a warm and inspiring 90-minute session.

Date: July 27, 2025 (Sun)
Location: Online (Zoom)
Participants: 18 people from 8 different countries

Event Highlights

  • Participants introduced their favorite books, from classic novels to modern guides and children’s picture books.
  • Many shared not only the titles but also the personal stories and reasons behind their recommendations, which made the event meaningful and memorable.
  • The session was both fun and inspiring, reminding us that books can connect people across cultures, generations, and experiences.

Comments from the participants

Here are some comments we received after the event:

  • “The meeting today was really fun! So nice to hear from people from different places and generations of Kumon.”
  • “I would love to hear more about the personal experience with the recommendation rather than only about the book itself.”
  • “I think we need a strategy to increase the number of participants. Sharing comments with non-participants might encourage them to join next time.”
  • “It was such a warm event, I didn’t have to worry about speaking too fast or slow, I just needed to be there and enjoy the conversation.”
  • “I’ve dreamed of writing a book for some time. After hearing Professor Michal talk about On Writing, I felt truly inspired. Now I want to give it a try!”
  • Many participants also shared which books they now want to explore, from the Percy Jackson series, The Third Door, The Culture Map, to picture books like Anpanman. Some even said this event gave them motivation to start new reading or writing journeys

Special thanks to our presenters

Ice and Kanon, for leading the sharing with enthusiasm and creativity!
