May the year of Dragon, 2024 will be better than the past years!
Our heartfelt condolences to all the family of the victims to the big earthquake in Ishikawa Prefecture.
We wish and pray that their life will be back to normal as soon as it can.
As we continue moving forward with life, we would like to continue sharing our blog ‘What are you doing now?‘, this time is volume 52, please read until the end and hopefully someone out there will be motivated and changed their life too!

Dear EIC family,
Hello everyone:) I’m Sasane Mitani. I joined EIC in 2015 when I was 4th grades.
Please let me share what I am doing now, and what I want to do in the future.
What are you doing now?
I enrolled in international course in high school (HS), but I couldn’t go to the school in March of 1st year. It was too hard every day. However, I wanted to learn about the career I wanted to pursue. So, I decided to change from the HS I was attending to a correspondence HS. I was able to graduate with everyone in the same grade, and now I can go on to higher education. Therefore, I will go to a vocational school starting in April. It is a vocational school that involve about the entertainment industry. I have a dream to be an entertainment manager.
Why are you doing what you are doing now?
It all started in the summer of my 2nd years of HS. At the time, I was attending school in the nurse’s office, and even going to the nurse’s office was painful for me. I lost interest in everything, even laughing became a chore, and life itself was painful. I hated myself like that. However, I remembered the words of a celebrity I had loved since elementary school, and I no longer felt that way. “You can’t change the past and others, but you can change the future and yourself.” After remembering those words, I began to want to change the person I hated, and gradually the feeling of “I don’t want to live anymore” faded away. I began to listen to the songs of “Arashi” and “Naniwa Danshi” and various other people’s songs, and little by little my heart began to revive. I even had a dream that I wanted to support the people on TV who cheered me up back then.
What do you remember about EIC and how it has impacted you?
Through my participation in EIC, I learned the joy of using English. Therefore, I wanted to study English more and enrolled in the International Studies Department in HS. The International Studies Department does not take students on school trips, but rather on language training. During the language training, we were immersed in English for four days with English-speaking tour guides at each location. On the third day, we had a one-day EIC-like experience. We gave a presentation about our hometown, Fukui, to staff members from various countries. Also, we learned about our team’s staff’s country. I couldn’t only attend in morning because I got sick. However, it was fun!!! Although I was not able to study abroad because of COVID-19, I was able to have many experiences that I could only available in the International Studies Department.

What is your dream, next challenge or goal?
My next challenge is to go to next school and graduate in 2 years. My closest goal is to have a fun and fulfilling student life, which I was not able to do in HS. For example, school festival reduced due to the COVID-19, break time with friends and after school with friends. I will do my best to live alone for that!!!!!

Does anyone remember me??? I would be happy if you are there. I will be happy to see everyone again after the COVID-19 is over. I look forward to it!!!!

Hi Sasane! I remember you! Thank you for sharing about yourself and what you are up to these days. It is true that COVID-19 has affected our lives in many ways. I am glad that you managed to pull yourself through the challenges. You are a strong girl! Please keep on striving for your dreams and never give up! I hope to see you again and our other EIC friends. I enjoyed our EIC camp and have fond memories of our times together.
