Celebrating a Memorable 2-Day Online Exchange Program with Ashiya, Japan, and Kumon Vietnam Students
In December, we had the pleasure of hosting a 2-day online exchange program that brought together students from Ashiya, Japan, and Vietnam, creating an unforgettable opportunity for cultural exchange and learning. With a mix of engaging activities, meaningful discussions, and inspiring reflections, the program not only fostered cross-cultural friendships but also motivated participants to take on new challenges.
Highlights of the Program
Wonderland:
In this thought-provoking session, students discussed forests, animals, and people, reflecting on environmental issues. Together, they brainstormed actionable ways to make a difference in protecting our planet.
My Hometown:
Participants showcased their hometowns through creative presentations, sharing unique traditions, landmarks, and local specialties. It was an inspiring cultural exchange!
Meeting Seniors!:
Hearing from seniors who have walked the path of language learning and international exchange gave students a glimpse into their potential future selves.
My Next Challenge:
In one of the program’s highlights, students presented their next challenges in English, sharing their goals and dreams. Listening to each other’s aspirations sparked motivation and encouragement among the group.
Reflections from Participants
The program inspired students to pursue their language-learning goals with renewed enthusiasm. Japanese participants shared their desire to learn more English to communicate better, enjoy English-language media, and even travel abroad. Vietnamese students expressed interest in learning Japanese, visiting Japan, and exploring its culture based on their peers’ recommendations.

“At first, I felt nervous and unsure since it was my first time participating. However, the group leaders were very friendly and gave us helpful advice. It wasn’t just fun but also a truly valuable experience. Over these days, I learned about Vietnam and had the chance to reflect on my own future. I would love to join again if there’s another opportunity.”
「参加する前は初めてだから緊張や不安がありましたが、グループリーダーがとてもフレンドリーに接してくれたり、時にはアドバイスなども行ってくれたので、楽しいだけではなく、すごく役に立つ経験にもなりました。この３日は、ベトナムのことを知れただけでなく、自分の将来についても考えられる機会になったと思います。このような機会がまたあれば、是非参加させていただきたいです。」
“Through this program, I realized the joy of speaking in English and that I could communicate even if I couldn’t express everything perfectly. For the first time, I was able to go beyond simple responses and casual conversation in English. Thanks to everyone’s support, I had so much fun. Thank you for this valuable opportunity.”

A Step Towards Global Connections
This exchange program was a reminder of the power of collaboration and communication. By bridging cultures and fostering mutual understanding, we witnessed how students can inspire each other to think globally while cherishing their own roots.
