Alumni Interview – Daigo (EIC 2014) & Mai (EIC 2013-2014) “Inspired by the experience of connecting with the world through Kumon Method English.”

Our experience of “breaking out of our shells” that day has shaped who we are today.
Through Kumon English Immersion Activities (KEIA) it has helped and inspired many children and adult gained a sense of the world through English, and foster individuals who can contribute to global society.
One of these KEIA programs is the Global Immersion Camp (GIC), where under the slogan “Don’t be afraid of making mistakes. Let’s try communicating in English” participants communicate together with peers from all over Japan and camp leaders from countries around the world, getting to know the world, broadening their perspectives, and thinking about themselves.
In this article, Daigo Takeuchi (EIC OB), an employee of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT), and Mai Hatasa (EIC OG), a childcare worker, was interviewed and asked to talk about their experiences at English Immersion Camp (EIC), the program that preceded Global Immersion Camp (GIC), —which became the starting point that shaped their current careers.
