Name: Nagi Machino
Participated: EIC 2017-2018, Izu
Group Camp Leaders: Elisa, Eunice, Morris, Pittaya, Wahyu, Zaya, Cherry
Now: Studying in 11 Grade (Highschool Year2)

Dear EIC family,
Hello everyone 🙂 Please let me share what I am doing now, and what I want to do in the future. My name is Nagi, I was a came participant in IZU 2017 & 2018. How are you my dear Camp Leaders? What are you doing now and where are you now?

What are you doing now?

I’m studying in high school to gain enough knowledge and wisdom to get into my dream university. I do singing and Marathon running, and I belong to the Debate club and Model UN club (which I founded) in my school. I am constantly getting touch with English and communicating with friends abroad in English. I have visited many countries in past few years, and one of the best visits I made was to Washington DC, where I actually met congresswoman!

Why are you doing what you are doing now?

I am doing these activities right now for several reasons, but one thing is that it expands my frontier. When I meet new people and work together through projects I go through, or competitions I enter, I can experience new things, understand different thoughts and embrace them.

How EIC has been an influenced (learnt or affected) in your life?

One thing that brought me to this point was clearly my experience in EIC (now is called GIC). Throughout my two times experience of EIC program, I communicated with Camp leaders and my roomates /group members in English, and although I wasn’t good enough at English back in the days, It was so much fun for me. Up to this day, I have continued my interest in global interaction and in English, and EIC is still largely influencing me.

What is your dream, next challenge or goal?

My short term goal is to find and enter a good university to pursue my dream and endeavor, and my ultimate goal is to connect people worldwide, and make this planet a better place to be. Although the picture is still vague, I aim to study international relations to actually advocate my life for my ultimate goal, and this decision indeed is coming from my life experiences starting from EIC.

Message to EIC Family

EIC was a wonderful place to be as an elementary school kid, and up until now, my core is largely formed by EIC. EIC Family is a great warm hearted community, and it would always help you when you need them. When you are still very young and your eyes are open, the world is full of opportunities so let’s seek them together!

*The English Immersion Camp (EIC) has been changed to GIC (Global Immersion Camp) from 2022.

We are looking forward to your comments and words of encouragement 🙂
