What did GIC 2024 Volunteer Camp Staff think about their experiences?

Let’s hear from them!

GIC was an experience that had a profound impact on my life. Through it, I connected with the world, learned the joy of helping others and making a difference, and realized the importance of mutual support. Additionally, I discovered how English can expand both my network and my potential, which greatly motivated me to continue learning English. Even now, it amazes me that all these experiences took place within just six days. Furthermore, GIC and its related events significantly shaped my academic and career paths by broadening my interests. This time, I had the opportunity to return to GIC as a staff member and witnessed the intricate and complex nature of its operation. While the role often required adaptability and forward-thinking, my desire to pass on the impactful experiences I gained ten years ago to new participants kept me motivated. As a result, I also grew and developed through this experience. I deeply value my connection with GIC and hope to continue cherishing it in the future.

GIC was an event that had a great impact on my life, and it inspired me to later decide to study abroad. It was an honor to have the opportunity to be involved in GIC as a VCS who is the camp staff, and it became a great experience for me. One of the best things about being VCS was that I was required to look out for the participants and camp leaders during the camp. It was hard for me because I am a person who does things at my own pace and not good at watching others, but I feel that after 6 days of VCS, I am now more aware of watching others carefully. In addition, I realized again that GIC is a place not only to see the growth of the participants’ children, but also to grow myself at the same time. Since I will start working next year, it will be difficult for me to participate in the whole event, but if I have the opportunity to contribute in some way, I would like to participate again next year.
